In summer, the waterfront buzzes with events, farmers’ markets, and live music, making it a hotspot for both locals and tourists but minus a 10 minute back-up on Merrimac St or Water St, it is pretty darn amazing.

With walking trails, a nearby state forest, and the breathtaking oceanfront reserve on Plum Island, outdoor adventures are always availble. You can quickly forget that you technically live in a city. Whether you enjoy hiking, birdwatching, or pretending to know what you’re doing while beachcombing, the natural beauty here is hard to beat. And Plum Island? Let’s just say it’s the kind of beach where you can find your zen or your next Instagram photo—maybe even both.

As prices have escalated in recent years, I feel that Newburyport has started to be perceived as a bougie community.  Do we have 3-million-dollar houses? Yes, we do.  But we also have $400,000 condos, we have people who have lived here their entire lives.  We have all types of neighborhoods, and we have people from all walks of life.  I would be surprised if you couldn’t find a group of like-minded people in this community.
